London’s Hottest Restaurant Openings This Summer | June
Today we take a look at some new restaurants that are opening this June in London. From home-style Indian cuisine to preserved and pickled meats, we explore the latest food offerings that are giving London locals something to talk about.
A Bengali, Indian restaurant based in Tottenham Street, London, ‘Calcutta Street’ is opening its doors this June. Using the best, seasonal British ingredients and a plethora of Indian spices, this restaurant certainly packs a punch. However, you won’t find a conventional Korma or Vindaloo here, owner Shrimoyee Chakraborty’s serves home-style inspired cuisine such as crab curry. The interior design is a mix of modern and traditional with furniture sourced from Calcutta and chandeliers made from handing hand fans. A very different Indian dining experience, well worth a visit.
Made of Dough
Originally a pop-up street pizza joint, ‘Made of Dough’ has come a long way since starting out in 2014. Using simple ingredients, the best produce and then cooked in a real wood fire; these pizzas are to die for. The new Peckham restaurant plans to have monthly music and wine nights and will work in collaboration with local butcher ‘Flock & Herd’.
Salt & Pickle
South of the river, this June sees the opening of ‘Salt & Pickle’ in Crystal Palace which will serve all things preserved. The delicatessen will offer meats and fish that have been cured, pickled and smoked, alongside wines and beer from local producers and breweries. Every dish will have an element of preserved food in it which will add flavour and variety. The intimate venue will feature on-trend hanging greenery mixed with light pendants and hanging cured meat alongside natural wooden finishes. The overall effect is a casual dining experience which is promoting local business and introducing something a bit different to the area.
