Coffee Shop Design: Why Your Brand Name Matters
Brand names have adapted over the years from family-named businesses to more creative “one-worders”. But what has caused this change and what’s the secret to creating a brand name that really stands out?
With the increase of new businesses including coffee shops and restaurants, brand names have become more creative in an attempt to make a more memorable impact.
Businesses have drifted away from family names, altering spelling and even creating new words. Examples include new fried chicken restaurant “Chik’n” who have simplified “chicken” whilst retaining the same pronunciation. And handcrafted burger joint, “The Meating Room”, who has put a playful spin on the word “meeting”.
However, what makes both “Chik’n” and “The Meating Room” successful brand names? In short, they are simple, easy to remember and hold obvious connotations to what they offer.
So what’s the secret to creating a solid brand name?
Given the importance of a strong brand name, name generation is one of the first steps of our branding process. A well-considered name will be crucial to brand growth and can have great impact on the initial relationship between your business and a potential customer.
Our name generating process includes an in-depth brainstorm of keywords relating to the client’s concept followed by research and availability. It’s important to be creative throughout the process but to also keep in mind how relevant the name is to the business offering in addition to pronunciation and spelling. After all, you want your customers to be able to pronounce your business’s name but to also understand what it is that you do!
Last but not least, a strong brand name can also help to shape extended branding including colour palette and the general style, followed by the interior design.
