Owners Marina and David approached us with a clear vision for a modern, welcoming interior that would boast exceptional functionality and a warm & cosy customer experience. A key part of the brief was to incorporate a fully integrated cake display and use natural looking materials throughout the space.

The layout was carefully planned to improve customer flow and maximise the visual impact of the products. A bespoke refrigerated cake display was integrated into the main service counter and positioned to face the shopfront, showcasing the freshly made treats to passers-by on Southampton’s busy high street.

Taking inspiration from Parisian pâtisseries and traditional cake shops, we combined warm, natural tones with soft ambient lighting to reflect Nami Bakehouse’s artisanal approach and high-quality identity.

At the rear of the store, a large bespoke illuminated sign creates a focal point within the seating area. The soft backlighting subtly brightens this section of the interior, helping the entire space maintain a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Shaker-style panelling with an oak-effect laminate finish was applied to the service counters and opposite wall, introducing texture and depth while complementing the interior’s clean, minimalist aesthetic. Decorative wood slats were also designed to fit across the ceiling above the entrance, with integrated lighting positioned between them. This detail defines the entrance area and creates a subtle, smooth transition into the main café space.
