Omega Café
This established, multi-generational business has been thoughtfully revitalised to appeal to a more modern demographic. The project included an extension and a complete interior refit, creating a design that blends contemporary elements with a timeless, traditional feel.
When Yod first approached Catersales, his vision was clear. The existing design of the shop — as shown above — felt cold and noisy, lacking the warm and comfortable atmosphere he wanted to create. The shop’s footprint was also relatively small for this café concept, often forcing him to turn customers away due to the limited seating. Without a dedicated waiting area for customers preparing to order, the space could become chaotic during busy periods.
As part of this new chapter for Omega Café, Yod had planned a large rear extension that would nearly double the seating capacity. Working alongside him, we reimagined the existing layout. By keeping the front section familiar for the café’s loyal customer base, we were able to move the service counter further back into the space, allowing us to introduce a dedicated waiting area and a breakfast bar for takeaway customers.
The new rear corridor space had the potential to feel long and narrow — an area where customers might not naturally choose to sit. During the design stage, it was important for us to consider how every part of the café could feel just as inviting, cosy and comfortable as the main seating areas.
With Yod’s aspirations for the space in mind, it quickly became clear to our design team that creating a warm, bright and traditional environment would be key to the café’s success. The design also needed to help subtly shift the customer focus from predominantly trade workers to a space where the wider community would feel welcome. Maintaining a timeless design direction was essential, ensuring the interior would stand the test of time rather than rely on passing trends.

The interior adopts a contemporary interpretation of a traditional café aesthetic. A soft, neutral palette is paired with natural timber furniture and panelling to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Classic details, including framed photography and traditional café seating, reference the heritage of the space, while clean lines introduce a refined, contemporary edge. Brass-framed mirrors and warm materials help reflect light through the long interior, adding depth and ensuring the space remains bright and comfortable throughout.
As part of the refurbishment, our in-house team was busy crafting a range of bespoke furniture pieces for Omega’s renovation, including a large fluted bench seat, a breakfast bar, and a reeded glass feature. The bespoke counter incorporates a faux tile panel, allowing us to install visually stunning counter systems without concerns about weight or the long-term durability issues often associated with grout cracking.
The renovation exceeded Yod’s expectations and has led to a noticeable increase in business, just as we anticipated. The design has been warmly received by the local community, making a strong impact both aesthetically and functionally.
