The Atrium
The Atrium at Greyfriars Church in Reading is a vibrant space, featuring a coffee shop, bookshop, lounge, and local artist displays. Constructed alongside the historic church, the project saw collaboration with construction companies and architects over several months. Our involvement included branding, interior design, custom furniture, and lighting fixtures.
Greyfriars Church in Reading was undergoing a large 2 phase refurbishment amounting to circa £7.5m to add a brand new Atrium space as well as refurbish the existing buildings.
We were brought in as Coffee Shop specialists however quickly took over the interior design scope for the Atrium as well as undertaking a full rebrand to communicate the new scope of the Church. The new area was to include a Coffee Shop, Reception area, children’s Play area, Jewellery Retail, Extensive Bookshop and an Art Gallery for which we designed and built all of the components.
The contemporary, energising space was achieved by blending a bright colour palette, captivating textures, and authentic materials while preserving the original architectural elements.
“Everyone was delighted with The Atrium and I have to say the concept and design has been very well received and works extremely well. So a big thank you….” – Chris
Along with all of the standard components, there was a large quantity of bespoke pieces that were designed by us specifically for this site including live edge slab tables, resin work, custom solid surface fabrication, metal work and glass work.
Throughout the project, we came up with solutions to fulfil the client’s dream of how the space would be used delivering the project on time and budget.
